French A2 at Tomlinscote School and Sixth Form College

Course description

The language study develops the grammatical work from AS, but continues to an appreciation of the Culture, History or Literature in that language. The course includes Customs, Traditions, Beliefs and Religions, National and International Events, and Literature and the Arts. The course units at A2 level are: 3. Understanding and spoken response in French, where students demonstrate the effectiveness of their French language skills by presenting and taking a clear stance on any issue of their choice; 4. The unit also requires students to demonstrate evidence of independent reading and research of a chosen text, play, film or topic area that links to the culture and/or society of a French speaking country.

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level course or equivalent to prepare for higher education in French, Languages or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to French or Languages such as a Teacher, Translator, or you may wish to use your French to study or work over in France. The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially in the travel and tourism sector.
