Course description

An ideal course if you want to work in hairdressing. 

Course content


  • cut women's hair
  • the art of dressing hair
  • maintaining health and safety
  • client consultation for hair services
  • shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
  • promote products and services to clients.

The awards include cut men’s hair, hair salon reception & creating an image.

You will also be expected to do work experience during this course.

Entry requirements

You must have GCSEs at grade D or above in English or Maths; or Functional Skills level 1 in English and Maths.

You should also have achieved a Level 1 Hair or Beauty qualification.

You must demonstrate proven interest in the industry and have good references from your school, or equivalent.

You should also have a minimum of 80% attendance from your school/work/college.



Continuous assessment in practical and theoretical work (graded pass, merit or distinction), preparation of portfolio.


Financial information

Hairdressing equipment, uniform and text book must be purchased for this course. Post and ordering information will be sent with joining packs prior to course start.

Future opportunities

You could progress onto study the Hairdressing Level 3 Certificate or an apprenticeship.
