Course description

Why study Biology?

Biology A Level provides a solid foundation for all those who intend to continue to University to study Biology or a related subject.

Course content

Exam Board: AQA

AS Units:

Unit 1 - Biology and Disease

Unit 2 - The Variety of Living Organisms

Unit 3 - Investigative and Practical Skills

A2 Units:

Unit 4 - Populations and the Environment

Unit 5 - Control in Cells and Organisms

Unit 6 - Investigative and Practical Skills in A2 Biology.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 A*-C GCSEs including Grade A/B at GCSE Science. Additional and Core.

Assessment

2 written exams (80% both 40% each) and 1 practical exam ISA (20%) each year.

Future opportunities

Biology gives students a strong foundation if you wish to study subjects such as midwifery, dentistry, medicine or veterinary science.
