Engineering Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship at New College Durham
The course requires day release attendance at College. You will be employed and working as an apprentice in mechanical/production engineering. You will gain evidence from your place of work, which will go towards the achievement of your apprenticeship.
Your Apprenticeship Framework is made up of various components which include:
- NVQ - this is achieved through a portfolio of evidence gained from carrying out your day to day activities in the workplace. You will be supported by a College Assessor who will help you gather this evidence and work with you to produce the portfolio.
- Technical Certificate - this is the qualification you will complete by attending College on a day release basis. The content will provide you with the practical training and theory you need to carry out your job at work.
- Functional Skills - you may need to complete a Functional Skill qualification in Application of Number and Communication. However, depending upon your GCSE grades this may not be necessary.
While attending College you will also complete other aspects of the Apprenticeship Framework.The Level 2 Apprenticeship normally lasts two years, but an exact course duration will be agreed with you at the beginning of the programme. You will be required to provide a portfolio, which will include evidence of written projects and assessments. Evidence from your workplace may include photographs of your work and/or signed testimonies from your employer or supervisor.
You will be required to obtain GCSE's A to D including maths, English and a science.
You could progress onto the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Engineering.Related careers
