Media Level 2 Applied Diploma at Long Road Sixth Form College
The Media Level 2 Certificate is a unit-based course which enables you to develop creativity and confidence while producing various media products. The course takes an innovative approach and provides opportunities for improving practical skills which will bring your ideas to life.
Throughout the year you will have the chance to engage your creativity in producing short films using professional filming equipment and editing software. You will also develop skills in graphic design and photography.
The course offers you a chance to work as a member of a production team to develop your problem solving and communication skills. Linked with these practical skills sessions, you will learn about the creative and media industries. The course allows you to develop your existing interests and, at the same time, to gain a broad foundation to progress to Level 3.
The course is divided up into seven units. Some of the units are for individual projects while others are group productions. The units are:
· Introducing media products and audiences
· Video—media skills
· Audio—media skills
· Film and television media products
· Graphic design for media products
· Photography for media products
· Planning and producing a media product
You will be following professional practice at all times, developing your skills to work in the creative and media industries. You will have contact with creative and media professionals at various stages in the year.
All assessment is by coursework.
Four Grade 3s at GCSE including English.
You will be assessed by a combination of internally-assessed assignments and externally-set and marked assessments.
On successful completion of the Media Level 2 Diploma you would be ready to enter initial employment, at a junior level in a media situation. You could also progress to other qualifications such as the Media Level 3 Diploma. This option is available at Long Road Sixth Form College.
