Hospitality (BTEC Level 2) at New College Swindon

Course description

Hospitality is very important to the modern workforce, yet there is a shortage of skilled workers. The BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate is a specialist work-related qualification which will provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding that you need for future employment or further study in higher education.

Course content

You will study a range of core mandatory units and specialist units. These include: the hospitality industry, its products and services, core aspects of service provision. The emphasis will be on developing those skills that are most desired by employers at entry level.

Entry requirements

You should have at least 4 GCSEs at grade D or above including English Language.  Personal commitment, enthusiasm and problem solving skills are essential.


Assessment is by an interesting variety of coursework, practical, projects, assignments and examinations.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of the course could lead to further education or a BTEC L3 Subsidiary Diploma/Diploma, to employment or an apprenticeship in the hospitality industry.
