Dance - Performing Arts BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate at Queen Katharine Academy
The learner will broaden their knowledge of different dance styles and choreography through the study of topics such as Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance and Contemporary Dance Technique.
The learner will embark on a course that will develop their skills as a dancer and performer. The learner will participate in weekly dance technique classes and must have a keen interest in dance performance and creating dance. Students must understand that there is a significant written element to the course.
You need to have a keen interest in the subject of dance and enjoy performing to an audience. Preferably you will have some prior experience in dance and will have achieved a ‘Pass’ or ’C’ grade equivalent to Level 2 (GCSE) although this is not essential.
The course is assessed through externally and internally assessed units. Evidence should be documented in a ‘working folder’ for each unit as well as practical demonstration and performance.
Level 3 BTEC courses are valued by employers and universities. The course is good preparation for further study of Dance and other related areas of Performing Arts.
