BTEC National Certificate in Sport at Abbot Beyne High School - a Specialist Visual Arts College

Course description

This course is suited to those who are interested in a career in the sports industries. It is made up of twelve units looking at a wide range of aspects of the sports industry. In this course, participants will develop the skills they need to start a career in the industry. A BTEC National is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs grade A-C, including English and Maths.

No cost to full-time students.

Future opportunities

You could take this short course with a related GCE or other qualification to prepare for further education in areas of sport such as BTEC Higher Nationals in Sport Management or related degree programmes. You could also go on to study an NVQ vocational qualification in Sports Development, which could be work-based. With further training, you could go into a job related to sport such as a Sport Coach, Trainer or Gym Instructor . The course provides a work related programme of study so you could go straight into a job as it helps you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers are looking for, especially in the sport and exercise sector.
