Philosophy and Theology at Blessed George Napier School
This course combines the study of two different areas – Philosophy of Religion and an in depth examination of St Luke`s Gospel. Philosophy of Religion comprises a study of philosophical arguments about the existence of God and selected problems in the Philosophy of Religion. For New Testament (St Luke), students explore key issues and emphases in the teachings of Jesus, for example the demands of discipleship, the significance of the miracles, or his teachings on outcasts and the use of wealth. In addition, students take on an investigation into a particular area of Ethics. This unit gives students the opportunity to under-take individual research and learn independently whilst directed and supported by the teacher.
A minimum of five A* - C grades at GCSE is required for all students wishing to enter the Sixth Form and the student should also have gained a Grade B at GCSE but Grade C will be considered.
