Course description

Have you considered opening your own business but not sure how to go about it? What are the internal and external challenges that might affect a new Business start-up? This course will develop your understanding on how new and established businesses use a variety of methods to analyse its customers and make important strategic decisions to ensure its survival and growth.

Entrepreneurs need to know more than how to see products, they need to understand exactly what a customer wants so that their business can provide it.

This is a practical work-related course which also includes a wide range of topics such as Marketing, Resource Management, Accounts, Law, Economics, Business Ethics and Human Resources. You will examine major businesses such as McDonalds, Amazon, Manchester United, Oxfam, Apple, Tesco and other businesses you will be familiar with.

Entry requirements

  • 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, across a range of subjects including English Language
You will need to retake GCSE Maths as part of your programme if you do not have a grade C. You may be advised to retake GCSE Science, depending on your chosen career.

Assessment

All units are internally assessed by completing assignments.
