Health and Social Care Entry Level Award at Sandwell College

Course description

This one-year course is designed for 16-18 year-old learners and school leavers.

Course content

Modules will include personal care, the role of the carer at mealtimes, and health needs. Personal skills development and functional skills are also a major feature of this programme and are compulsory.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are required. However, you will need a positive attitude, commitment and self-motivation. Learners should have written and spoken English of at least Entry Level 3 standard. All learners will be required to complete an initial assessment prior to the formal interview.

Assessment

There are no examinations on this programme as all your work is assessed by coursework which comprises of written work, presentations, role play and practical observations.

Future opportunities

Students who successfully complete their units may be given the opportunity to progress to a Level 1 Introductory Diploma course in Health and Social Care or Childcare. Whichever route you choose you will be given help and support from your tutor.
