Business Administration and Finance – Advanced Diploma - Level 3 at Westhoughton High School

Course description

This diploma has been designed to provide a solid grounding in business skills for those who are interested in a business career or those who hope to run their own business. It provides the opportunity to develop three main themes: • Business Enterprise, • Business Administration and • Finance. The first part of the course - Principal Learning, consists of eleven units. This will develop an understanding of what business is about and how it works. The second part of the course - Generic Learning, includes 20 days work related learning, an extended project, Personal learning and thinking skills and Functional skills in English, maths and ICT at level 2. The third part of the course - Additional / Specialist Learning, is where you will undertake an additional course that complements and adds value to the Diploma. This could be an A Level or a specialist BTEC unit.The course will be assessed through a mixture of assignments, coursework and externally marked texts.

Future opportunities

After completing the Diploma students can go into employment, study at university or an Advanced Apprenticeship. The Advanced Diploma will be equivalent to 3.5 A-Levels and carry a maximum of 420 UCAS points. Some of the careers that this could lead to include: • Marketing, • Sales, • Banking, • Accounts, • Customer Service or • Human Resources.
