Performing Arts A Level at Ferndown Upper School Sixth Form
This exciting new practical course is ideal for actors, dancers, singers, musicians and anyone interested in Performance management and technical support. Students will be given the opportunity to explore and progress in their chosen specialism while producing
a number of live performance events for audiences throughout the year. Assessment comes in the form of internally marked portfolios and externally marked performances – there is no written exam!
We recommend that you have studied either GCSE Drama or GCSE Music before starting the Performing Arts course.
Developing Skills forPerformance
Content: Here you explore skills in Acting, Dance, Music, Technical Theatre, Arts administration and Marketing. Learn how to accurately assess and monitor personal skills in your chosen area.
Planning for a Creative Event
Content: This unit will allow you communicate a creative idea and to understand how to plan and make the event happen.
Performing to a Commission
Content: This offers you the opportunity to contribute to the creation of a performance in response to a commission set by the exam board.

This course is a fantastic introduction to further and higher education in Performing Arts and start to a career in the performing arts industry as a performer, director/ choreographer, administrator, technician and more. It is great for building confidence,
communication and cooperation skills and can complement a range of other subjects, including Media, Art, Fashion, Photography.
