BTEC Specialist Diploma in Ceramics Level 2 at Richmond Adult Community College

Course description

BTEC Level 2 Specialist courses are designed to give adult learners the knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare them for employment or further study at level 3

Course content

This is a project based course structured around 6 units. These units will cover the underpinning knowledge you will need to produce hand built and thrown work. The units have an emphasis on exploring and investigating as well as the production of finished pieces You will explore historical and cultural influences and visit galleries and museums. You will be encouraged to explore the crossover between form and function, to analyse your design ideas and produce ceramic items. The sketchbook will be a very important part of this course and you will learn to use it as a tool to record, develop and contextualise the journey of your work.

Entry requirements

A minimum of Level 1 Literacy is required for you to be able to read project briefs.

Assessment

The course is assessed through a range of assessment methods; including presentations, portfolio and sketch book and project work as well as written responses and evaluations. Each project will have an assesment deadline which you will have to meet to continue with and gain the qualification.
