Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production (University of the Arts London) - Level 3 at South Thames College

Course description

Develop your expertise as a performer through musicianship, keyboard classes, rehearsal sessions and a wide variety of performances. You'll tour and play gigs in local venues and demonstrate your performance ability. You'll gain expertise and confidence in your instrument or your voice through small group workshops, and benefit from seminars and visits from our many links to the professional music industry. You'll also learn essential music technology and production skills alongside music business studies to provide you with a really comprehensive knowledge of the industry. The course is designed around a series of practical assignments that will teach you how to get into the music industry. And you'll have a Gigajam account to help you record, compose and improvise music - and to give you additional qualifications.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs A*-C with English at A*-D; OR a relevant Level 2 diploma at least at merit plus English assessed by us to be at an appropriate level. You'll also have an audition in order to make sure the course is a good match for you.


Based on coursework that will include recordings and performances demonstrating your ability.

Future opportunities

From the 90-credit diploma, move up to the Music Performance Extended Diploma. From the extended diploma, progress to higher education, such as the Music Production HNC at South Thames College or a course at university or music college. You could also start performing or find work in the music technology industry.
