Children and Young People's Workforce Apprenticeship at Northampton College

Course description

This programme will develop your apprentice's understanding of the key stages of children's physical, social, emotional, language and intellectual development. They will gain the skills and knowledge needed to provide quality childcare by keeping them up-to-date with current and new practices. The Apprentice will complete the following: - Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce Level 2- Mathematics Level 1 Functional Skills- English Level 1 Functional Skills- ICT Level 1 Functional SkillsEmployees Rights and Responsibilities.Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.

Course content

Apprentices will gain practical skills and qualifications that your business needs both now and in the future. With a mixture of on and off the job training they will learn the skills that will work best for your business. Apprenticeships can make your business more productive and effective by addressing your skills gaps.

Entry requirements

You must be in relevant employment to start an Apprenticeship.Pass an initial assessment in English and Mathematics.


The Certificate will be evaluated through: - a series of practical assessments and - a portfolio of work.- Attendance at Workshops in the collegeFunctional Skills are assessed through: - a portfolio of work and - tests where appropriate.Average duration is 24 months.
