Media Studies AS/A Level at The Ripley Academy
1. Investigating media. A range of Media products are assessed using the key concepts of Form Institution Representation and Audience. A case study into film and television is also undertaken. Exam, 25%
2. Creating media. Students plan and shoot, for example, a trailer for a film and linked pages from two existing magazines. Coursework 25%
3. Critical Perspectives. Representations are explored across a range of media platforms. Exam 25%
4. Research and Production. Students complete a written investigation and a linked practical production. Coursework 25%
Five GCSEs at grade C or above
The qualification is assessed by written exam and by coursework. The assessment weighting is 50% exam and 50% practical coursework
