Course description

The Diploma is made up of 9 mandatory units and a choice of optional units. Mandatory units as follows:
Promote communication in Health, Social or Children’s and Young People’s settings. 
Engage in personal development in Health, Social or Children’s and Young People’s settings.
Promote equality and inclusion in Health, Social or Children’s and Young People’s settings.
Principals for implementing duty of care in Health, Social or Children’s and Young People’s settings.
Principals of safeguarding and protection in Health and Social Care.
Promote person centred approaches in Health and Social Care.
Promote and implement Health and Safety in Health and Social Care.
Promote good practice in handling information in Health and Social Care settings.
Optional Units:
Dementia Pathway.
Generic Pathway.
Learning Disabilities Pathway.

Future opportunities

Once Level 3 has been completed the option is available to do Level 5 Diploma (if become a manager or deputy manager at work). There is also the option to go into a Nursing or related HE qualification.
