Product Design at The Sutton Academy

Course description

The course is designed to offer you the opportunity to develop understanding of key processes within the subject. It allows you the opportunity to work with a broad range of materials and components and experience different design and manufacture processes including CAD/CAM. A wide range of current technologies are available and encourages you to consider the impact of future technologies. The course also focuses on broadening knowledge of well known designers and deepening understanding of issues of environmental sustainability and health and safety issues. The A Level Product Design course ensures that you develop into a creative thinker, learn to innovate and become a problem solver.

Entry requirements

The course is available to all pupils who have achieved the minimum of a grade B at GCSE in either, Resistant Materials, Graphic Products, Electronics or any related design courses.
