Course description

Are you interested in looking for a career in a science related industry or gaining a degree in Science? If yes, this course would be suitable for you. The aim of this course is to provide a broad scientific knowledge for students interested in continuing their science education with a focus on biology. Studying Applied Biology will provide you with an opportunity to further your academic qualifications. Biology is a subject which is featured daily in the news and an understanding of the Science behind these stories will help you to develop your own decisions regarding the ethical, social and moral dilemmas. The course will encourage you to develop an enthusiasm for biology and practical skills, alongside an understanding of the main concepts studied. The course is internally assessed through 6 units and is in line with the national qualification framework that is equivalent to 1 A level qualification and their equivalent UCAS points. Assessment is through coursework with no exams, providing an excellent basis to pursue a career in the scientific industry. Furthermore, it is a qualification that is well recognised by future employers.
