Childcare Level 1 Diploma at Lincoln College

Course description

The aim of this course is to provide you with an introduction to the knowledge and understanding required when working within childcare, education and play-work. This provides you with the opportunity to develop basic skills in caring for children, which can be used on a personal basis, supporting parenthood or towards relevant employment.
Successful completion of this programme could allow you to progress onto a relevant Level 2 programme, such as a Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Caring for Children and Young People, preparing you for employment within the sector.
During the course of the programme, you will study the following: Growth and Development of Young Children; Supporting Babies Play; Practical Health and Safety when with Young Children and Science Activities for Young Children.


Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs to include Mathematics and English Language (minimum grade E) or Level 1 Functional Skills in Mathematics or English. You are also required to have two good references (one must be from an employer or a recent school/college report) and be successful at interview, showing appropriate communication skills for working with children and completing a set written assessment.


Assessment is done through a portfolio of evidence.
