Level 1 Information Technology Certificate at Leeds City College
This course is for you is you are interested in understanding how technology works: it will provide an introduction such as an understanding of how the internet, websites and computers work.
You will gain plenty of practical experience in producing basic technology systems and products. Some of the units you study are database development, website development, computer graphics, digital portfolio and you will also develop your employability skills and knowledge of the IT industry.
You will study the following externally assessed units:

You will develop your IT skills in accordance to what skills employers look for. Communication is a key skill for all employers and something you will develop during this course.
You will also develop your functional skills in Maths and English, or study these at GCSE.
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D including Mathematics or English, a Foundation Diploma (equivalent to 5 GCSEs at Grades D G), NVQ1 or satisfactory completion of a Foundation Learning programme at Level 1 with a minimum of 37 credits. You will be placed on the course that matches your qualifications at interview.
You will be assessed by a range of work; assignments, practical activities including presentations, project work and external assessments.
Successful completion of this course will lead to the award of a BTEC Diploma in Information Technology.
Students who obtain a Merit grade or Distinction and pass their functional skills can then progress onto a range of level 3 qualifications at Keighley College
