Online Basics at Westward Pathfinder

Course description

It covers:

  • How to use a keyboard and mouse
  • How to search and explore the internet
  • How to keep in touch with email
  • How to stay safe online
  • The basics of using online public services

To get started with Online Basics, you’ll need to create an account for the Learn my way website if you haven’t already got one. This means that each time you visit it will remember exactly where you left off. Signing up is really easy. If you’re already familiar with the mouse and keyboard, you’re ready to go!

City and Guilds Assessment Want to find out more about the Online Basics City & Guilds online assessment? You’re in the right place! Completing the online assessment will give you an Award in Online Basics (1 credit at Entry Level 3 on the ITQ).

To complete the one hour, online assessment, you’ll need to show you have three of the key skills that are so important when using the internet:

  • Communicating using email
  • Searching the internet
  • Using the internet safely

The qualification is a great place to start - and as well as being great for your CV, it will also help you to progress to other things that might interest you.
