Why study History?

History helps us to understand the world we live in now. We look at key decisions throughout history and understand how change occurred.

What do I study?

Democracy and Dictatorships in Germany 1919– 1963. We will study how Nazism reshaped history and what the impact on the German people was. Britain 1930–1997 Enquiry topic Churchill 1930-51 Britain 1951–1997 Labour and Conservative governments, Lady Thatcher and Britain’s position in the world. Britain and Ireland 1791–1921.

Where next?

History is a very popular subject for university, as well as being well respected by employers. It combines well with a wide variety of subjects and can lead to a variety of occupations such as law, media, teaching, management and museum services.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade A* - C including English Language and Maths; Grade B in History.
