ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) with Maths and ICT (Level 1) at Central College Nottingham

Course description

This is a Level 1 course if your first language is not English. It includes English, Maths and ICT and if you are successful you will have the skills to continue in education or move into the employment market.

Course content

Subjects / Modules include:

  • Speaking and Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Grammar
  • Mathematics
  • ICT

English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.

Entry requirements

One of the following:

  • 4 GCSEs at grades D-G including English Language and Maths
  • A relevant Entry 3 qualification, plus you will need to successfully complete an English and Maths assessment to determine the right course and support for you.

Adults who are aged 19+ without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.


End of course assessment.

Future opportunities

You will be able to proceed onto main stream vocational courses.

Further information

You will receive substantial guidance throughout the year to help you progress onto other vocational courses.

This course will help you to build up confidence to choose an employment pathway or prepare for further study. You will leave the course with the skills and confidence to improve your employability.
