BTEC Sport Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Nottingham University Samworth Academy
This course applies to students who are motivated to gain employment in the sports industry. The course covers a wide range of areas within the industry through practical and written work. Within the course you are able to gain experience in a range of local facilities from schools to leisure centres. Students will be given opportunities to volunteer and gain experience within event organisation, coaching different ages and planning fitness programmes.
Example units include: Principles of anatomy and physiology in sport, the physiology of fitness, assessing risk in sport, fitness testing for sport and exercise, outdoor and adventurous activities, sports coaching, and work experience in sport.
GCSE A* - D in English and BTEC Level 2 at Merit or Distinction. GCSE PE A* - D desirable but not essential.
Throughout the two years, students will have to complete seven units with assessments through coursework, presentations, reports and practical work.
