Level 3 Diploma in Administration at Ken Stimpson Community School

Course description

This is a Technical Level qualification that will equip you with specialist knowledge and skills for entry into employment in administration roles or to an Apprenticeship in Business and Administration or to prepare you for a related further/higher education course. It will enable you to carry out a comprehensive range of nonā€routine administrative tasks in a modern, practical way that is relevant to the work context

Course content

All students will cover between 7 and 12 topics or units. You will learn how to produce complex business documents and develop an understanding of functions and roles in business organisations. In consultation with your teachers you can then choose other topics that best fit your needs and interests such as organising business events, analysing financial information, researching and preparing reports, organising business travel and accommodation, and supporting recruitment and selection procedures. Whatever units you cover you can ensure that essential areas of knowledge and skills from the administrative sector will be covered.

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements: 6 A*- C graded GCSEs including English and Mathematics. If students have studied Business previously they should have at least a C in IGCSE/ GCSE

Assessment

This qualification is internally assessed by your teachers and externally moderated by OCR. There are no examinations and the work is entirely based on coursework portfolios. This qualification is graded as either Pass or Fail.

Future opportunities

All businesses (and other organisations like charities and hospitals) need sound business skills behind them. In particular this course is intended for students who may want to consider the following pathways.

1. Entry into employment in administrative roles, such as Project Team Administrator, Client Services Administrator or Customer Service Team Leader.

2. On to an Apprenticeship in Business and Administration.

3. Further/higher education courses in business or management

    • Ken Stimpson Community School is a single site school which is endowed with superb facilities, some of which are shared with Werrington District Library and Werrington Sports & Recreation Centre. The school has access to sports facilities, multiple computer suites, drama studios, music classrooms and practice spaces, dance theatres and performance areas all of which would be less likely to be found in a more traditional school. In addition to our well equipped and resourced teaching blocks we also have a two-court, floodlit astroturf area and extensive playing fields.
