Business BTEC National at Bedford Academy

Course description

BTEC Business is a subject which allows you to gain a thorough insight into the world of business and commerce. You are given many opportunities within and outside of the classroom to develop your business skills, including taking part in The Young Enterprise Company Programme, Cranfield Business Challenge and the IFS Student Investor Challenfe. You will ne anle to take advantage of the Maths and Business Village's contact and links with industry to aid your study.

Course content

You  will investigate the UK business environment. You will gain an understanding of how business resources are managed. You will undertake market research and use this information to promote a product. You will gain an understanfin of methos used in Business accounting. Students who choose Double Business will study six additional units that will further develop your understanding of how businesses operate successfully.


Level 3 BTEC courses are assessd on coursework assignments that are internally marked and externally moderated. There are no exams.

Future opportunities

A BTEC National in Business can lead to university study wihtin the business field or an apprenticeship. Regardless of what typ of employment you end up doing in later life, it will be within one type of business or another so knowlkedge of the business world will certainly be beneficial. Career paths can include careers in business, finance and self-employment.
