Course description

Students will cover three units, including a compulsory unit on Acting Skills and Techniques. Other units will be Devising Plays and Performing Scripted Plays. This course is a good choice for students who want to develop their social skills, team work, and gain in confidence, as well as those who are interested in a career in the theatre. Students will participate in practical workshop sessions and performances, exploring and developing devised drama and scripted plays. Students will have regular opportunities to be assessed on their understanding and ability, including their acting technique. Students are encouraged to work as an ensemble and to be reflective. They will also be expected to complete portfolio work. A pass is equivalent to two GCSEs.

Future opportunities

With further training, students may choose a career related to the performing arts, either in theatre, television or concerts, as a performer or as part of the production team.
