Hairdressing Apprenticeship Level 3 at Bolton College
Our Apprenticeship programmes will give you vital hands-on experience, learning from real life situations, with the guidance of industry professionals. You’ll gain the skills and confidence needed to excel in your chosen career.
This Apprenticeship will help you develop the skills required to be a Hair Stylist and to progress as an employee within a hairdressing salon.
The course is a great way to build on advanced cut and colour skills and gain a recognised qualification whilst also earning a salary.
The Level 3 Apprenticeship is aimed at those who have already achieved a Level 2 in Hairdressing, or who can demonstrate, through formal qualifications or relevant experience, a level of knowledge equivalent to that covered by the Level 2.
The Level 3 consists of:
- Provide Hairdressing Consultation Services
- Creatively Cutting Hair using a Combination of Techniques
- Promoting Additional Services or Products to Customers
- Monitoring Procedures to Safely Control Work Operations
- Plus Optional Units of Your Choice
Functional Skills (if applicable):
- English Level 2
- Maths Level 2
To complete an Apprenticeship you will need to have an employer who is willing to support you throughout your training. If you have not yet found one, we can help you with your search.
We ask that you hold a Level 2 Hairdressing qualification or equivalent - students progress onto this course rather than apply straight from school.
You will require a Level 2 or equivalent English & maths qualification.
You’ll be assessed throughout your learning programme by a mixture of formal tests, workplace observations, portfolio building and self-assessment.
On successful completion of this Apprenticeship, you progress into full-time employment, professional job-specific qualifications, Higher Apprenticeships or a degree programme.
Following further study you could work as:
- A full-trained Hairdresser where you could earn around £20,000 a year, depending on experience.
- A Salon Manager, earning between £18,000 and £30,000 a year.
The College will support you throughout your time here. In College, you will receive personal support from your tutor; out of College, you will have your own personal Work Based Tutor, who will visit you in the workplace.
During their last visit Ofsted commended the College for its provision of “well targeted information, advice and careers guidance, which meets individual needs and enables learners to make informed choices about the next steps in their learning and career.”
Our £75 million campus offers:
- Four state-of-the-art working salons
- A fitness suite and sports hall
- Apple Mac suites
- A café selling Costa coffee
