Accountancy Apprenticeship Level 2 at Bedford College

Course description

If you are new to accounting, this Level 2 Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Apprenticeship will provide you with an excellent start to the subject. You will learn the basic accounting principles, experience accounting software and gain insight into accounting business environments. This course will combine the practical hands-on experience of the workplace with the knowledge and understanding gained through a College course.

Course content

You will study a range of topics, including:

  • Basic accounting
  • Working effectively in accounting and finance
  • Basic costing
  • Computerised accounts.

Entry requirements

To begin this Apprenticeship you must be employed full-time in a job role relating to the course. You must also have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above, including maths and English.

Assessment

You will be assessed by computer-based exams and assignments throughout the year.

There are also the following elements, all of which must be achieved to pass the full Apprenticeship:

  • Competency-based element at Level 2
  • Knowledge-based element at Level 2
  • Key skills in application of number Level 1
  • Key skills in communications Level 2.

Future opportunities

Accounting technicians are skilled staff, employed in jobs ranging from clerks to accounts department managers. They are increasingly required in industry and commerce, so if you have AAT qualifications at any level your future career prospects will be extremely good. On successful completion of this course you could also go on to study our Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.

Further information

The professional examinations require a high standard of preparation and considerable commitment if success is to be achieved. In addition to the course fees, you will also need to purchase set books and join the AAT.
