Course description

Covering all aspects of art and animation in the digital industries, this Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technologies is an ideal course for anyone brimming with artistic talent and creative ideas. It will help you develop all the skills and techniques required by this constantly growing industry.You’ll be working to industry standards and using the same software and tools that’s commonplace in this sector, as well as exploring new and developing technologies in art and design. From digital photography pieces to marketing materials for advertising campaigns, you’ll be using live briefs to build projects from start to finish, developing research, creative, and communication skills along the way. Looking at traditional, 2D and stop-motion animation, digital painting and concept art, visual FX and compositing, and motion graphics, you’ll experiment across a number of different platforms and really explore what each role in this industry entails.



Financial information

Across this two-year course, you’ll be assessed on 13 different units and a final project. This will through a variety of methods, including traditional research, problem solving tasks and practical assignments, as well as using modern technology like audio recordings and screen capturing to check you’re learning the relevant skills and techniques.

There are several different pathways you can take after completing this Level 3 Diploma in Digital Art and Animation. You may want to move onto a foundation degree at The Manchester College or other related degree, in a subject like Animation, Graphic Design, or Visual FX. Or, you could look at higher, degree level apprenticeships and develop your skills further in the working world. With a solid knowledge and relevant abilities learnt from the course, you could also jump straight into any one of number of careers in the creative media industry, including animation, production design, art direction or storyboard art.

      Northenden is a suburb of south Manchester. There are shops, a supermarket, restaurants and takeaways 15 minutes’ walk from the campus in central Northenden. There are also a small supermarket and shops closer to the campus. Northenden is surrounded by green space. The campus is minutes away from Gib Lane Wood and Wythenshawe Park which includes a community farm. It is also close to the Mersey Valley nature reserve; a riverside walk through miles of countryside and parkland.
