Music Performance BTEC Level 3 National Certificate & Subsidiary Diploma at Bishop Douglass School

This course is designed for those who have performing experience and would like to consolidate their musical skills in a practical, industry-relevant way. Practical knowledge, understanding and skills will be developed around the following areas of study:
- Performance Techniques
- Working as an Ensemble
- Session styles
- Solo Performance
- Song Writing, Composition and Recording
- Live Music Workshop
- The Sound and Music Industry
- Live Performance
The course is delivered over two years and is the equivalent of 1 A Level.
The course consists of a combination of three mandatory and nine optional units determined by the Centre. These will the studied alongside each other to provide a good balance of theory and practice. The course will amount to 120 credits.

- Music Performance Session Styles (10 credits)
- Music Performance Techniques (10 credits)
- Music Project (10 credits)
- Pop Music in Practice (10 credits)
- Freelance Musicianship (10 Credits)
Minimum of 5x GCSE A*-C. Whilst being advantageous, a qualification in GCSE Music is not a pre-requisite of this syllabus, but a willingness to perform and work within a team is essential. You will need to have a good level of ability in at least one musical instrument (or voice)
Anyone with a strong performance based interest in Music. If you are serious about a career in the music industry then this is a great place to start.
You will need to be hard-working, self organised and motivated. An interest in performing is ESSENTIAL!
