A1 Course at Palmer's College

Course description

If you are academically able, with a lively curiosity about so many things, then this is the course for you. In this course you will join similar students to discuss and argue, develop higher level thinking skills, take part in a range of practical activities, and visit top universities and help you prepare to apply.

Course content

The skills you need to apply to top universities and tackle their entrance requirements, including interviews and subject tests. These include interview skills, advice on selecting university courses and Critical Thinking skills, needed to tackle entrance exams in subjects as varied as Law, Medicine, Economics, English, Physics and more.

Entry requirements

An average grade of A in your GCSEs.

Future opportunities

The aim is to maximise your chances of getting into the university and course you want. Many A1 students take the follow-up programme into their second year to support applications for Oxford and Cambridge, for Medicine, Veterinary Science, Dentistry, Law and other courses requiring a university entrance test. Recent A1 students have gained places for all of these competitive courses and are studying at Oxford and Cambridge, as well as most other Russell Group universities.
