German at Longcroft School

Course description

The German AS and Advanced Level course equips students to talk and write about issues of interest to them as well as other topical themes. In Year 12 students study modules on Media, Popular Culture, Healthy Living and Family Relationships. In Year 13 students will develop further their ability to understand and express themselves in German. They will develop critical insights into contemporary issues such as Racism and Science and Technology.
In order to increase sensitivity to language and language learning, students will have regular exposure to interviews, news items and the ICT suite. Many types of reading material will be used to extend vocabulary eg. newspapers, magazines and documents from the internet.

Entry requirements

In order to study German at AS or A Level students will have achieved five A* - C grades at GCSE including German.
