Level 2 Diploma in Administration (Business Professional) at West Kent College
You will develop the skills required to work successfully in an administration role within business.
The course provides the foundation knowledge for tasks undertaken in an office on a daily basis. Often the importance of these tasks is under estimated but they ensure a business operates efficiently and effectively.
The course will cover a variety of skills such as:
• Financial Transactions
• Communications with Customers
• Written Business Communications
• Organise Business Travel and Accommodation
• Working in Administration
• Event Administration
• Diary Management
Additionally you will learn techniques to improve your keyboard skills (touch typing), word processing and presentation skills, all essential for strong administrative support.
All the above are transferable, work-based skills enabling you to opt for a range of progression routes.
You will need four GCSEs Grade D/3 or above, this must include English language at grade C/5 or above – due to the amount of written work and the high standard required. We will also consider mature applicants.
All units are assessed using OCR model assignments with clear criteria set and they evidence the learner’s knowledge and skills. It is a requirement of OCR that the written work shows a high standard of English which would be appropriate for business documents. In addition some internal exams will provide evidence of IT skills.
This is a full time course and runs for 34 academic weeks. Students are expected to complete work outside of the lessons, this may be set by the lecturer but it is also envisaged students will extend their knowledge of the subject by reviewing any notes they have taken and reading/researching the subject matter. Students are required to attend punctually and regularly (attendance must be above 93%).
Students can progress onto employment within a range of business sectors (Human Resources, Insurance, customer service, events) in a variety of roles such as receptionist, office junior, payroll administrator, events administrator and junior secretary.
Alternatively students can progress onto a Level 3 course or an Apprenticeship.
An integral part of your course is a very successful one-week work experience programme. The feedback we receive from local employers is excellent. As a direct result of their work experience placement, some students secure full-time employment.
Candidates who are progressing from schools, and have not completed any similar level courses that are Government funded, will be funded and will have no fees to pay in most circumstances. Individual advice is available from our Student Support Desk.
If you wish to find out more about the course please look at the OCR website.
