Bridging Course Level 2.5 at Harwich and Dovercourt High School

Course description

The Bridging Course has been designed to ‘bridge’ the gap between Key

Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.

It will address skills in four key areas:

 Opportunity to follow a Level 3 course, generally in an area where the student has previously been successful. Students may not gain a full Level 3 qualification but will have a Level 3 experience.

 Opportunity to gain Level 2 (GCSE Grade C) in Maths and English. These qualifications are key to future successes so the course supports students working towards these and equivalent literacy and numeracy qualifications.

 Enrichment element: Students will have access to an extensive enrichment element which will develop key study, work and social skills. There will also be the opportunity to gain mini-qualifications or accreditation in some aspects of this part of the course.

 Work Experience: Students have the opportunity to undertake a work experience placement to put the skills they are learning into a real life context.

Entry requirements

Students will have successfully completed a Level 2 BTEC to merit standard and will have Ds in English and/or Maths.
