Gas Utilisation Apprenticeship (Advanced Level 3) at Blackburn College
The Gas industry Framework has direct entry on to a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. This Apprenticeship offers a combination of qualifications which will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need when working in a job within the gas industry. You will also cover domestic gas installations and maintenance.
Level 3 Diploma in Gas Utilisation and Maintenance: Cookers, Tumble Dryers, Leisure and Domestic Space Heating.
- Core domestic gas safety
- Tightness testing and purging
- Health and safety
- Core installation and maintenance of domestic appliances
There are no specific entry requirements to study an Apprenticeship at Blackburn College. You will have an initial assessment when you come in for an interview, and this will show the level of English and maths qualifications, known as functional skills, that you will study alongside your apprenticeship.
Blackburn College will work with applicants to help find a suitable employer where possible. However we always advise anyone looking to undertake an apprenticeship to be actively seeking employment for themselves too.
You will be assessed in one or more of the following ways:
- Course work
- Oral questioning
- Portfolio of evidence
- Practical demonstration /assignment
- Practical examination
- Written examination
On successful completion of the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Gas Utilisation, you will have the skills, knowledge and qualifications to progress to relevant Level 4/5 qualifications i.e. Building Services Engineering Technology & Project Management or Foundation Degree in Engineering. At the end of your apprenticeship, you will have the option to complete a commercial or catering changeover (CODNC01 or CODC1)
