GCSE French at Cockermouth School

Course description

The course aims not only to encourage pupils to develop their knowledge and understanding of the language, but also to develop positive attitudes to language learning and other communities and cultures. The course content covers four themes: Lifestyle, Leisure, Home and Environment, Work and Education.Within these themes are clearly defined topics: Health and Relationships and Choices, Free Time and the Media, Holidays, Home and Local Area and Environment, School and Future Plans and Current and future jobs. Students will develop skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

Entry requirements

Interest in learning French. The course builds on the foundations of key stage 3 so that all four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed further

Future opportunities

Knowledge of a foreign language is an invaluable skill. It provides opportunities to work in an increasingly global market place. Careers include: Teaching, Translating, Business, Marketing and Tourism
