Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) Diploma/Extended Diploma Level 3 at New College Stamford
The course will broaden and develop your performance skills and knowledge of Musical Theatre in a highly professional and disciplined theatre school environment. You will study performing art business, rehearsing and performance, alongside specialist units such as:Storytelling as a performanceSinging skills for actors and dancersMovements in performanceChoreographyYou will also have the opportunity to undertake solo or duologue LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) examinations.This course is 100% coursework based.This course will be taught by our partners at The Eastern School of Performing Arts.
5 GCSEs at grades C or above, including English and maths grades C/4 or above, and successful audition of 2 prepared pieces.
On successful completion of this course you can progress on to the HND in Performing Arts with your chosen pathway of Musical Theatre at The Eastern School of Performing Arts or the HNC in Acting at New College Stamford or other degrees at University or Drama Schools.
You will be expected to commit to rehearsal schedules and some additional hours in order to gain experience within the theatre school. There will also be the opportunity for work experience in both teaching and performing. You will be required to wear theatre school uniform for classes and have black plimsolls or jazz trainers. There may be some additional costs to cover theatre trips, official scripts and professional workshops. The course is run in collaboration with Wildcats Theatre School. Wildcats are an award winning team of teachers and performers who work with children from the age of 4 to adults developing musical theatre skills. They have performed in many prestigious venues such as Her Majesty’s Theatre and the Royal Albert Hall and have a lot of experience and expertise to offer the students undertaking this course.
