Applied Law BTEC L3 at All Saints' Academy

Course description

If you are intereted in law and current affairs then this is the course for you. It provides you with a good basis for related careers and is a usefu subject for entry into a variety of Higher Education course. However it is not essential to the study of law at university.

Course content

During this course you will complete three units in the first year and three in the second year. All units are assessed by coursework using Edexcel exam board.

This vocational course is specifically designed for those seeking employment in the legal sector or to progress to higher education.

Entry requirements

Previous knowledge of the law is not required. Students will require a grade C or above in Englishand 5 GCSE's gare A*-C

Assessment

BTEC in Applied Law is 100% coursework qualification and is graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction based on criteria setby the examining body. Students will complete three core units and three specialist units.

Year 12 Core Units - 50%

  1. Dispute solving in the legal system
  2. Understanding law making
  3. Aspects of legal liability

Year 13 Specialist Units - 50%

  1. Unlawful homicide and Police powers
  2. Aspects of propert offences and Police powers
  3. Aspects of family law

Future opportunities

Law combines well with other humanities and business subjects and will count towards Higher Education entrance. It is particularly helpful to those wishing to enter the legal profession, social work, personnel, police work, banking, finance and business generally.
