Exploring Careers in Land-Based Industries (Animals and Horticulture) Entry Level 2 and 3 at New College Stamford

Course description

This career focussed course explores the land-based industry and offers you the opportunity to experience working with animals and in the horticulture environment. You will gains specific and transferable work skills whilst undertaking learning in a range of real and realistic working environments which includes a commercial farm, extensive grounds, and our on-site animal care units. You will also undertake work experience in real working animal care and horticulture environments.This programme also include sessions in English and maths, enrichment, tutorials, independence and supported study.

Entry requirements

No formal qualification required.


You will be assessed on their progress throughout the year and build a portfolio of evidence. The work is validated by an external verifier from AIM Awards. Functional skills will involve tests at the appropriate level.

Future opportunities

After one year, you may remain at the same level to maintain progress and broaden their knowledge, or progress to the next Entry Level or to the Pathways course.

You will be provided with opportunities to develop skills that support your social and personal development, and undertake employability sessions including work experience.All of our programmes are underpinned by the opportunity to develop life skills. These include: independent living skills, communication development, travel training and safety in the community.
