Chemistry at The Sutton Academy

Course description

Chemistry is at the heart of science. Interesting and exciting in its own right, it is also integral to developing understanding in other sciences such as genetics, molecular biology, pharmacology, materials and environmental science. Studying Chemistry to A Level will enable you to develop many skills highly regarded by both employers and further educational establishments. The A Level course that we offer will enable you to develop and refine your skills of enquiry, analysis, maths, spatial awareness and practical laboratory techniques. A Level Chemistry can then provide the springboard to study many other degree subjects; not just chemistry and other sciences, but also medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, banking, law and accountancy to name but a few.

Entry requirements

The course is offered to students who achieve Grade B or above in Science at Core and Additional GCSE. As the A Level chemistry course has a significant maths component to it, we recommend that students have gained at least a C grade in GCSE Maths before commencing the course.
