Supporting Teaching & Learning Diploma level 3 at Dudley College

Course description

This qualification provides you with the core knowledge and skills needed when providing specialist support for children and/or young people in primary, secondary or special schools.

Course content

You will need to complete 11 mandatory units and 4 optional units to achieve this qualification.

The mandatory units include:

Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
Schools as organisations
Support learning activities
Promote children and young people’s positive behaviour
Develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people
Support assessment for learning
Understand child and young person development
Understand how to safeguard the well-being of children and young people
Support children and young people’s health and safety
Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings.

Completion of this qualification is achieved through a combination of classroom-based learning and experience in the workplace. You will need to complete a practical placement to demonstrate competence in both knowledge and skills.

Clear DBS

A recognised level 2 qualification within this vocational area or a miniuim of four GCSE' s at grade C or above one of these being maths or English

For 17/18:

Clear DBS

A recognised level 2 qualification within this vocational area or a miniuim of four GCSE' s at grade C or above one of these being maths or English (grade 4)

Financial information

There is no need to worry about the costs of coming to college as there is lots of financial help available. Our finance and welfare officers will be able to talk to you about any help that may be available to you based on your individual circumstances.

Bursary fund

 

 

Students aged 16-18 attending a full-time further education course can apply to the 16-18 Bursary Fund for help with college related costs. Free BUS PASS

 

We will provide a free bus pass to help with travel costs for 16-18* year olds on full-time programmes, based on individual circumstances**. To qualify for a free bus pass***, you must live more than one mile from the campus at which you will be studying and not already be in receipt of other financial support, such as Care to Learn funding.

 

*Under 19 as at 31 August 2017.

 

**Students with learning difficulties or disabilities who are unable to access public transport may still be able to receive help – talk to our Student Finance team.

 

***Evidence of family income will need to be provided.
