Business and Retail - Paths for Life and Work at City and Islington College
Course description
Would you like to work in business or retail? Does a learning difficulty or a disability make training difficult for you? This course could be your first step to a career in the retail industry.
Course content
You will learn a range of practical office skills, such using a computer to photocopying.
You will also get involved in running the A-Z stationery shop and working at College events. These offer great opportunities for building practical experience in a number of areas, including dealing with customers and taking payments.
You will also develop your reading and number skills.
Entry requirements
No formal qualifications are required, but a willingness to move into employment is desirable.
Assessment
You will be assessed through the practical and the theory work , by building a portfolio of the work. It will then be internally assessed.
Future opportunities
On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the Edexcel Entry Level 2 Diploma in Skills for Independence and Work, and the Edexcel Entry Level 3 Award in Business Administration. You will also achieve internal qualifications that recognise other skills that you develop.
Following the course, you may progress into paid or voluntary work in the retail industry. You may also choose to study another subject at Entry Level 3.
