Construction Skills - Entry Level 3 Certificate at Yorkshire Coast College
Construction is one of the UKs largest industries, with over 2.5m workers employed in the industry at any one time, and more than 37,000 workers being recruited into construction jobs every year.
This course is designed to offer a broad introduction to Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery and Decorating.
It is suitable for people who are maybe not sure which construction trade is right for them and want to learn the basics of all these trades alongside the skills needed for daily life and work.
The course will cover the following units:
- Painting and Decorating
- Construction Theory
- Health and Safety
- Work-related skills
Functional skills of English, Maths and ICT are a key part of this programme.
There are no formal entry requirements. However, this course is designed for learners aged 16 - 18, you must be enthusiastic, hard-working and willing to learn.
Successful applicants will have performed well at interview and have good references.
After successful completion of the Entry 3 Certificate in Construction Skills you would progress onto the Level 1 Diploma in Construction Skills.

Yorkshire Coast College works closely with Scarborough Borough Council and local and national employers who are all currently working on projects in our area. We are also looking at introducing a number of new local Apprenticeship opportunities.

- A new housing development at Eastfield called Middle Deep Dale.
- The relocation of Tesco’s to a brand new site that will incorporate a new build
- A new housing development in Filey
- An extension to Sainsbury’s
