Instructing Exercise and Fitness Level 2 at Middlesbrough College

Course description

This course is designed for students who wish to work in the Health and Fitness Industry and gain skills and experience needed to competently instruct clients in the role of a Gym Instructor.

Course content

Anatomy and Physiology Preparing and Delivering Safe and Effective Gym-based Exercise Programmes Programming Safe and Effective Exercise for a Range of Clients The Health Benefits of Physical Activity The Importance of Healthy Eating Motivating and Communicating Effectively with Clients Health, Safety and Welfare Principles of Exercise and Health Students will also acquire the skills to instruct and manage a range of specific types of clients with different goals and requirements. This can include Indoor cycling, Circuit Training, Nutrition Exercise Instruction of Children.

Entry requirements

Four GCSE’s at grade D which must include English and Science. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."

Assessment

Students are required to pass a multiple choice exam in Anatomy and Physiology and Principles of Exercise and Health. Students will also be required to complete 12 assignments and put together a portfolio of evidence.
