PHYSICAL EDUCATION AS/A2 Level at The John Wallis Church of England Academy

Course description

The course consists of thirteen units over two years and is equivalent to 2 GCE A levels.
Units include;
• Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport
• The Physiology of fitness
• Assessing Risk in Sport
• Fitness testing for sport and exercise
• Fitness training and programming
• Practical Team/Individual Sports
• Work Experience in Sport
• Sports Coaching
• Sports Development
This course also will help students develop their functional skills (ICT, Mathematics and English) and their personal, learning and thinking skills.
The course is mainly assignment based through a range of method including; presentations, video logs, diary entries, case studies and work experience.

Assessment:
100% coursework/assignment based (NO EXAMS). There are thirteen units delivered over two years

 

Entry requirements

Students should have achieved either:

5 GCSE (A to C) including Maths and English

GCSE PE or BTEC Sport (Grade B minimum or equivalent)

Sporting Excellence in 2 Sports (Subject to Trial)
