Art and Design at Marlwood School

Course description

The AQA Art AS and A2 courses offer the opportunity to develop your self expression in a mixture of areas including painting, drawing, print, sculpture, graphics, textiles, fashion, ICT and photography. You will build upon your personal strengths whilst experimenting with the new techniques and media in a fully equipped, specialist environment. The friendly, creative atmosphere and high expectations help you to achieve your creative potential. Many aspects of Art and Design will be explored through gallery visits, workshops, researching artists, designers and craftspeople, cultures and media and using the learning resource centre. Self supported study and contextual research skills are an important aspect of the course.

Entry requirements

You will need a high level of enthusiasm and commitment in order to benefit from this course. A sound understanding of observational drawing is desirable. You should have a GCSE Art grade A*-C.
