Business and Administration Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships at Grimsby Institute
Administrators handle the day-to-day tasks in an office to make sure things run smoothly.
The term ‘administration’ covers roles that involve organising people and resources, including Executive Assistants, Secretaries, Office Supervisors and Data Entry Clerks. Without them, information would be hard to find and businesses would
be less productive.
As an Intermediate or Advanced Business Administration Apprentice, your exact
duties will depend on your employer.
It’s likely that you’ll be working with a team or a member of staff to handle various tasks. You may be typing up board meeting documents, putting together information on spreadsheets, sending the daily post, co-ordinating events or even negotiating with customers. This type of work requires a strong sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail.
One of the great things about business and administration is that you can work almost anywhere.
Administration roles are an excellent starting point to move into management once you have more experience.
Most occupations require a minimum of grade C in English, Maths and ICT, although some only require a minimum of grade D.
Some occupations within the Engineering sector will require Science at a minimum of grade C.
A Vocational Assessment may have to be taken and passed for some Apprenticeships before acceptance onto the programme.
Training is delivered in the work place and an Assessor will monitor your progress
and conduct assessments.
